Coleytown Middle School Principal Kris Szabo, who was charged with second-degree breach of peace following an incident over a parking spot, has been placed on administrative leave, school officials said in a letter to parents.
Szabo was arrested on Wednesday, Nov. 27 when she struck a 71-year-old man during an argument. She was placed on leave as of Wednesday, Dec. 4.
It is unclear how long Szabo’s leave will last. School officials said that it will continue pending a review of the incident. At the time she was placed on leave, Szabo was working at Bedford Middle School as a “principal on special assignment,” while remediation work continues at Coleytown due to mold issues. A longtime educator, Szabo has been at Coleytown since 2004.
Szabo remains released on a $500 bond following her arrest. She is due to appear back in court on Wednesday, Dec. 11.
